A football coach in Honolulu tackled and restrained a man who tried to punch and stab him with a butterfly knife while the coach waited in his truck at a red light.

Paul Brown, Mid-Pacific Institute Assistant Offensive Line Coach, told police he opened the door, tackled his attacker pinning him under the wheel well and held him there until police arrived.

Police arrested the 41-year-old male attacker on suspicion of unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle, carrying a prohibited weapon and second-degree attempted assault.

While holding his attacker on the ground, Brown received only a scratch on the calf from his suspects knife. Police said the attacker was not provoked in the incident.
